If you asked most women if they had an alter ego, they’d probably blush, give you a little giggle, and say yes, multiple even. I know for myself, every day I’m the cool, laid back girl but in my daydreams (and around select friends, lol), I’m the fun, flirtatious vixen. I’m not a vixen daily because well, I’m far too clumsy. It’s hard to be super flirty as you trip over your feet and accidentally splash water on your clothes, lol. However, I do try to find ways to incorporate that part of my personality in my personal style, via cute heels, a peek of lace here, a smudge of red lipstick there. That’s the case for most women. Designer Marisa Spinella takes her self expression one step further. Her shoe line, Penelope and Coco, was created as a means for her to express her alter egos: one side (Penelope) being vintage inspired (influenced by Rita Hayworth) and dainty: the other (Coco) more bold and energetic. Combined, they provide a fun juxtaposition of classic style with eclectic, uptown cool. Check out the lookbooks: Penelope and Coco: The Oxfords from Penelope and Coco on Vimeo. Penelope and Coco has also been featured in Foam Magazine, Nylon, and Fashion Journal, just to name a few. It’s definitely a cool brand to keep on your radar.
