Who Wears Short Shorts | 6 Trends to Try | KP FUSION
It’s officially Summer, which means it’s officially HOT so it’s time to break out the shorts and show off your gams! When it comes to shorts, the sky, er, length is the limit. Cropped, loose, fitted, knit, leather, cotton, knee length or JBB (just below booty)-you pick. There are so many styles and lengths to try so be sure to choose fit that flatters your body the best. No matter your body type, there’s a pair out there to suit your needs. Whether you want to wear them on a date, or just to hang out on the beach, here are 6 different short trends that anyone can incorporate into their summer wardrobe. DARK DENIMYou can never go wrong with denim. I like these AE Boyfriend shorts because they’re a little looser (and longer) than regular cut-offs so they’re more flattering, and the distressed detail gives them a little more character. Wear them all the way down to show the raw edge or roll them up for a nice cuff. AE Destroyed Boyfriend Midi Short, $40 BOWTIE DETAIL A neutral color and loose through the thigh, these are a great pair to dress up with heels. The bow detail adds whimsy, so whatever top you wear (a pretty jewel tone in emerald or magenta), tuck it in to show it off. Leifsdottir, Bowtie Shorts, $178 PLEATY-PLEASEThe soft pleating in these James Icon ribbed-knit shorts are great for hiding any lumps or bumps we don’t care to share. A pretty forest green color, these are good for when you want rock a boho vibe. Pair with ballet flats and a billowy top. James Icon Petal Shorts, $117 COLOR ME WOWJ Brand has been the go-to brand for colored denim, lately so it’s no surprise that their cut-off shorts have a buzz as well. If you’re tired of playing it safe with indigo and neutrals, a bright red bottom is sure to get you noticed. If you’ve never tried the color-blocking trend before, definitely do it with these. J Brand Cut-off Rigid Denim Shorts, $165 SCALLOPED EDGESIf you’re going for a soft romantic look, these are on trend. Soft to touch in a pastel color, these are perfect for those who love a minimalist look with modern detail. A loose tank in creme or tan keeps the look fresh. Shop Ruche Sweet Green Tea Scalloped Shorts, $38 WHITE OUTThese white cotton shorts with front button detail give off a retro, theatrical effect. High-waisted shorts help hide a little tummy, and can be made mod with black or 80s with bright colors. Just be sure to wear the correct foundation garment underneath so that there’s no VPL. If I were in a beach town, I’d pair with a light-weight black crewneck sweater and wedges. Miss Selfridge, White High Waisted Shorts, $45 Be sure to check out stores like TJ Max, Target, JC Penney and Walmart (YES Walmart-they are great for simple basics) for more budget-friendly options. Never let $ stop you from trying a look; all of these trends can easily be achieved regardless of price-point. Need a little more style inspiration? Check out the many ways celebs wear their shorts. Rachel Bilson dresses up her leather shorts with a blazer and pointy stilettos. Selena Gomez goes for a monochromatic look with just a pop of color.
