All About Bouclé

One of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe without doing a total overhaul or switching up your personal style is by experimenting with textures. It allows you to still stay in your comfort zone with shapes and colors, however, mixing different textures is an opportunity to give your look a little more “depth”.

While a big trend this season is to try something in brocade,  if that’s still a little too outside of the box for you, think about picking up a few pieces made of bouclé.

Primarily known for coats and suiting pieces (think about the iconic Chanel Jacket), bouclé  was popular in the 20s and 60s but has made  a resurgence this season with designers (Chloé, Moshino, Lanvin, and more). Depending on what you pair the item with, your look can swing easily from classic to edgy with just a few minor changes.

2 Was To Wear It

You can take the traditional approach like Kate Middleton and sport it in a classic buttoned-up suit, or make the look your own and pair the blazer itself with a silk or chiffon shell and denim trousers.

You can get a little more edgy like Amber Rose and choose a blazer with exaggerated shoulders (still on-trend) and pair with leather pants or, if you want even more edge, try it with shorts, tights and platforms.

Other ways to wear it is to wear a skirt with a simple long sleeve tee and tights  (make sure you accessorize!), or mix it with something sparkly like a sequined cardigan or tank. The key thing to remember is to make sure that whatever you choose fits like a glove (too much material will add bulk)!
