Beauty Buy | Maybelline Dream Lumi™ Touch Highlighting Concealer (Radiant) | KP FUSION
A few weeks ago I picked up Maybelline’s Dream Lumi™ Touch Highlighting Concealer in Radiant ($7.99) after reading MUA Diti Devi’s Full Face blog post (if you’re in the DMV area, she’s a great MUA to work with!). I have dark circles under my eyes (it’s hereditary), and I’ve been looking for a concealer with a peach or pink undertone to help combat the darkness and actually HIDE it. I have a tub of concealers at home that are all good at spot treatments but hiding the circles? Not so much. I have a medium tan/olive skintone and an oily eye area, and while a yellow based concealer does help highlight, the point is moot if the circles peak through after an hour. I tried her trick of layering the Dream Lumi™ concealer under my normal everyday concealer (it switches almost daily, depending on the foundation I wear; right now I’m using NYX’s Waterproof one), and I have to say it WORKS. Because it’s a peachy-pink color, it counteracts the blueness (yes the dark circles are blue not black), neutralizing the area so that once you apply your regular concealer, your skin will be highlighted without sallowness. The formula is gel-based and comes in a twist tube, so it’s easier to build with. And because it diffuses light, you can use it as a highlighter on the bridge on your nose and brow-bone as well. If you’re a woman of color, this shade of concealer is a MUST-HAVE. TIP: BLEND. BLEND. BLEND. Doesn’t matter if you use a beauty blender of a brush, but you MUST blend it all together to keep from looking like a reverse raccoon. Apply the Dream Lumi™ concealer in an upside down triangle under your eye (the size depends on YOUR eye shape, how much you want to highlight, etc.). Add a layer of your everyday concealer and then blend it in. I use E.L.F.’s Small Stippling Brush ($3), because you have great control and it buffs the color in for an airbrushed finish.
