Basics of Blogging Workshop | Quick Recap | KP FUSION
Yesterday I taught my very first (sold out!) Basics of Blogging Workshop at Langford Market Memphis. During the 2 hour workshop, we covered pretty much everything you needed to know in order to (finally!) set up and launch your own blog. I’ve been blogging for over 5 years now, and after doing a ton of research and being hired to consult here and there, I decided to finally teach a small class on blogging. I realized a few months ago that unless you have the time to do the research yourself, it really is hard to find the information that you need in order to get started on your blog. Sure, many blog posts tell you to “use your voice and be true to yourself” or “blog about what you know”, but none of that is really helpful to you if you don’t know where to start. And don’t even get me started on the blogging books I purchased that in the end were more of the same! You need action items. You need to know how to set goals and form a real to-do list for your blog; otherwise you’re stuck staring at a blank page and putting it off for another month. The blog planning part needs to be fun yet productive, so that’s what my workshop was about. From deciding what your niche + sub-niche will be to which platform is best for your personal blogging needs, I was able to give everyone actionable steps to follow from start to finish so that they could develop content and an editorial calendar and start working towards their launch. Breaking the steps down the way that I do during the workshop makes blogging a less daunting task so that it can easily be integrated into your everyday life. I love being a blogger and I had so much fun teaching this workshop, so I am definitely planning to do more in addition to the private consults that I offer (I have a few spots available over the next few weeks!). Many will still cover the basics, but I also am interested in offering more advanced workshops, from blogging photography (which is different from regular photography, believe it or not), to larger collaborations. I’m also planning to offer digital downloads over the next few weeks for those that can’t make it, so stay on the lookout for that. If you’re in or near Memphis, make sure that you subscribe via email-a newsletter launch with extra content and event details is coming soon! Thank you again to everyone that signed up for the workshop (search the #kpfusion + #basicsofblogging tags on IG to see more photos). Getting that off the ground was scary but I enjoyed every minute of it! I want to give a huge thank you to Carrie and the Langford Market Memphis team for being such gracious hosts, and also a high-five to my other goodie bag sponsors (NV Cosmetics, Ava Loren Design), and to Kristin with Everbloom Designs who created that gorgeous arrangement that you see above! The next workshop will be a little bigger and better so get ready! What would you like to learn from a Blogging Workshop?
