Last month blogger Emily Schuman released Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home, her 2nd tomb dedicated to stylish living + entertainment at home. One of the reasons why Cupcakes and Cashmere has become such a wildly popular lifestyle blog over the years is due to its focus on elevating everyday life, but still doing it in a way that is attainable and feels authentic.
In Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home, Emily covers everything from how to decorate your space as both a renter and owner (in a splurge vs steal kinda way), to must-haves for entertaining at home during game night, monthly dinner parties and more. Over the last 2 years or so, Emily has shared her home improvement updates, but in the book, she breaks each area down into little vignettes while including tips on lighting (dimmers are the way to go), coffee table decoration, decor quick fixes, and even kitchen organization that’s both stylish and practical.
While I do wish there were even more pictures than what she included (because, blogger, lol), I enjoyed the book overall because the advice is foundational “need-to-know” info, and the decor tips + examples are relatable. Many times, lifestyle books give amazing advice with beautiful, luxurious interior design, but the items used are completely out of your price-range and venture into untainable territory. Emily’s choices aren’t necessarily cheap, BUT, she gives info behind why it could be a worthwhile investment. Plus, much of the decor that she has in her home can be replicated and/or used for inspirational purposes when shopping for new furnishings, so that no matter your budget, you can still feel confident about creating a great space to call home. Whether you’re just moving into your own place and not sure where to begin, or you’re ready for a few updates and in need of some solid visual advice, Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home is a sweet reference book to have in rotation.
