Business of Blogging

4 Ways That Blogging Can Enhance Your Life

When I launched KP Fusion back in 2010, it was to serve as a casual creative outlet. I was working in healthcare management at the time and obsessed with fashion + magazines, but I needed a space that would allow me to express my ideas and thoughts on those things that I loved in my free time. Fast forward 5 1/2 years and it’s grown into so much more than that. It’s afforded me so many opportunities (product reviews, event invites, even ways to monetize it!), but more importantly, it’s enhanced my life in more ways than I could imagine.

Running a good blog takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but it’s FUN. Seriously. At times I experience burnout (which is TOTALLY NORMAL), but I couldn’t imagine not blogging. It’s a creative outlet for sure, but having a blog can help you do the following as well:

Step out of your style + beauty comfort zone.
You can’t have boring style with a blog. Nobody wants to see you wear the same ole jeans every day, nor hear you talk about trends that have been run into the ground. Having a blog helps you keep your eyes and ears open to new designer names, styles, and trends, so while you may consider your personal style to be classic or more traditional, your knowledge is ever evolving.

Try new restaurants/dishes.
Have you ever wanted to visit a restaurant but couldn’t find anyone to go with you? A blog helps you balance that out. I use to miss out on trying new places because I was waiting for friends/fam to go with me but now I can up and go without hesitation. If it feels awkward you can take a book or notebook with you and pretend like you’re a food critic, but just knowing that it’s an experience you can share with your readers is usually enough to shake those nerves.

Also, if you eat the same food all the time, your blog will push you to try new dishes. A meal can be delicious but not necessarily photograph well, so you can use these opportunities to test out food you normally wouldn’t reach for. It’s a win win: you expand your palette and your blog gets cool pics and a review/recipe. BOOM.

Have more fulfilling conversations with strangers.
I abhor small talk, but it’s a necessary evil that we all have to do, especially at events. If you don’t necessarily want to talk about work but still need a conversation starter, being a blogger can help you with that. Most people don’t understand blogging but are fascinated with learning more about it, so being knowledgeable about it can put you in a whole new light, and/or open doors/begin friendships that you never knew where there.

Figure out your purpose.
This is probably what I love about blogging the most. I have soooo many interests, but as I’ve worked to figure out my purpose with my career and life, this blog has helped me deep dive into who I am as a person, what I like, what I need to be happy, and what goals I want to accomplish. Exploring your interests every day and having a place to talk about it is a fantastic way to really figure out who you are. Whether it’s for your career or your personal life + development, regularly blogging can help you stay focused and serve as a confidence booster whenever you need to reflect or see how far you’ve grown.

What do you love about blogging?
