When you find denim that fits exactly how you want, you hear the angels sing. For the past few years, I’ve gotten my denim primarily from one brand; no matter the wash or finish, I could go in + grab a new pair w/o even trying them on. Well ladies + gents, I’ve added someone new to the list!
top + denim c/o Lane Bryant | Sandals: Target | Bag: Madewell
But let’s start at the beginning. Last month I attended the Lane Bryant LaneStyle Launch Party at the Countrywoods Crossings location (Cordova, TN); with fashion blogging FINALLY on the rise in Memphis, I try to attend as many brand events as I can so that they will understand the importance of our voice/influence in our market and opportunities can continue to grow here. Lane Bryant has always had cute accessories, so I wanted to pop in to see what they had in as well.
The LaneStyle Studio will make shopping a LOT easier; you can now set personal shopping appointments with their stylists, free of charge. Cacique, there lingerie and intimates line, is connected to their store, so if you’re starting your wardrobe from scratch (or are just in need of a few good bras) you can also get a bra fitting while you shop to ensure you’re wearing the right size (and your clothes hang right!).
They also just launched the Super Stretch Skinny, denim designed specifically for women with curves. Created with innovative stretch & recovery technology, the new skinnies move unlike any other jean and will “snap back” after wear and won’t stretch out. Having to constantly yank at my waist all day is annoying, so after giving me insight on all of the new happenings with the brand, their store manager Annette Shields gave me a quick bra fitting and set me up with a pair of black denim ($69.95), choker tee ($29.95) and bra ($48.50) to try on for fun.
First off, LOVED the denim (I’m a 14). I’m 5’3 so I’m too tall for petites but noooot quite tall enough for regular length, so I try to go with an ankle/short length to keep from having to do alterations or cuff them. These fit like a glove with a mid-rise waist, so it has an extra slimming effect. The choker tee was super comfy and is one of those tees that can easily work on a casual day or going out at night when paired with heels. The denim comes in petite, short and long lengths, different washes and styles, so you have a lot to choose from.
I was correct on my bra sizing, but the difference between the one that I came in wearing and what she fitted me with was kinda crazy.
You can see from the right picture that the girls are UP + OUT, and it slimmed me down on the sides under my arms. IMO, it completely changed how the tee looked on me. They offer a range of bra sizes (36C – 46DDD), styles, and the quality is fantastic. Prices start around $32, so you can invest in quality bras (that are also CUTE!) without going broke. The one I left with was black, but I’m going back to get a nude and a few others-I’m basically going to overhaul my underwear drawer, lol.
