I’m so behind when it comes to really experiencing my city. So many new businesses have popped up over the last few years, and now that my work schedule is a lot more flexible, a personal (and blogging) goal for 2018 is to get caught up! Hunting for cute coffee shops is a given when you’re part of that #bloggerlife and first stop on my list was Edge Alley.
Located at 600 Monroe in The Edge District (Marshall Arts if you’re from Memphis), Edge Alley opened last July and is a stylish, modern cafe and coffee shop. Designed with an open floor plan and community seating, the picturesque space is the perfect spot for both quick meetings with fellow creatives, and chill time with your favorite book and cup of joe.
I popped in one quiet Thursday afternoon and tried their avocado toast with fresh fruit and a chai latte.
I finally gave in to the deliciousness that is avocado toast in 2016 (seriously, idk why it took me so long to get on board), and their version took it to another level. Instead of toast, they use warm biscuits, so the bites literally melt in your mouth.
I switched to decaf coffee last year after having a cup that was so strong it gave me heart palpitations AND jitters, so I developed an affinity for chai tea lattes and theirs did not disappoint. They’re open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and the menu is evolving, but click here to get the gist of it. They also have their liquor license, so I plan to go back one Spring night after dinner for a nightcap.
My favorite part of the coffee shop is the pretty green banquet that lines one of the walls. So cozy yet chic! If seating is available there, grab it, order your coffee and sit back and people watch.
There’s also an area lined with bar stools next to the windows that will be perfect for a quick coffee break in the Spring. It’s located next to a brewery, so the streets will be buzzing with people when it’s warm. Ah, city life!
There are also a few small retail shops in the building, so whenever you visit, give yourself at least 45 minutes to sip, explore, and really enjoy the space.
