Shapewear Pieces for the Holiday Season

Party season is in full swing, which means a whole new wardrobe is coming into play. The holidays bring out a fun time for fashion: if you have a full social calendar, that means you can be (no, SHOULD be) a lot more bold and playful with your style. Wearing sequin tops, velvet pants and glitzy dresses also means that you may have to break out some shapewear as well. No one wants to suffer from VPL (visible panty line) or the extra lumps and bumps that these textures can create, so here is a roundup of bras and shapewear pieces that you can add to your lingerie collection this holiday season.

Seamless Bra
If you want to wear a body hugging or low cut top but don’t necessarily want to go braless, a seamless bra is a great option to try. Because it won’t have a seam running through the cups, a good unlined bra will virtually disappear under your tops. There are so many different styles to choose from, so even if you have a larger chest, you can still find a seamless, bralette style (like this one) to choose from.

Shaping Shorts
Gone are the days that you have to put on your mother’s girdle (seriously. I used to wear my mom’s when I had to dress up for band as a teen, lol). If you need to smooth things out a little bit while give your bum some lift, a pair of shaping shorts will do the trick. These help shape your tummy, thighs and bum all at the same time, so you can get a pair that’s highwaisted (in case you’re afraid of them rolling down), and/or some that come a little longer to above the knee if you’re wearing a longer short or dress. These are a great alternative if you don’t want to wear the more traditional shaper panties.

Shaping Bodysuit
A full shapewear bodysuit is a favorite for many women because it’s a “one and done” undergarment that can be worn under everything in your wardrobe. The key is to get one that fits properly through the bust area so that everything is smooth and you don’t have to worry about front or side bra spillage. There are so many options to choose from; a traditional bodysuit style or one with a convertible bra are the most possible. Black is the easy option, but if you own more sheerer pieces, I suggest finding one in a nude color closest to your skintone.

Thankfully, shapewear isn’t one size fits most anymore, so it’s much easier to find the styles that you like and need.

Do you own a lot of shapewear?
